Richard Welstead and Tom Wylie launched Builderman to set new standards in customer service and workmanship.

Friends since their schooldays in Hassocks, work took them on different paths, but ten years later they joined forces to become…

Richard Welstead

After starting out as a mechanic, Richard became a builders’ apprentice and found his passion in landscaping. He enjoys the satisfaction of creating something beautiful from scratch and is exacting about a perfect finish.

In his eight years working in the industry Richard saw the need for a company that provided consistently excellent work at an honest price. He contacted his old friend Tom and the Builderman mission was born.

Richard still answers to his school nickname Welly and lives in Brighton. When not busy being Builderman he loves laughing, music and his brilliant girlfriend Vicky (who wrote this website).

Tom Wylie

Now an experienced landscaper, Tom started working in garden maintenance after a degree at Bradford University led him to look outside an academic career. He moved on to learn the landscaping trade and worked for other local companies for five years before teaming up with Richard to launch Builderman.

Eternally energetic, Tom enjoys the physical side of landscaping and building. His natural organisation skills also help Builderman jobs stay on time.

Outside of work Tom plays for his local hockey team and enjoys mountain biking. He adores his Parson’s Jack Russell Maple who is an occasional visitor to Builderman jobs.

Builderman is a Partnership and has a £1,000,000 public liability cover. We are also a member of the Check a Trade group of high quality tradesman.
